Quick facts
- 24 wireless microphone channels
- 0 dropouts, 0 feedback moments
- <5 min average changeovers
- 2 external feeds + room mix
- Dante networked audio end-to-end
The challenge
A rapid-fire program with multiple back-to-back presenters, panelists, and video roll-ins. The show required clean room sound, external feeds, quick changeovers—without slowing the run of show.
Our approach
- RF design & coordination: We pre-planned the spectrum, scanned on site, and coordinated 24 frequencies with healthy spacing. Directional antennas and proper distribution ensured strong, stable RF.
- Axient Digital: Live control and monitoring, via Wireless Workbench, let us solve issues before they became problems, even during a mic hand-off.
- Yamaha DM7 scene control: Purpose-built scenes for each block (keynotes, panels, Q&A) kept levels, EQ, and routing consistent. Automixing tamed open mics, reducing noise and feedback risk.
- Dante backbone: Clean routing everywhere—no repatching mid-show.
- Changeover discipline: Microphones numbered and assigned to presenters so we always knew who had which mic; Digital DM7 audio mixer channels named to match presenter microphone, spare mics always on stand-by, batteries always rotated from full charge to use, all of this so transitions could happen in minutes.
The result
Every voice landed—clear, even, and natural—no matter who stepped to the mic. Pristine execution, and the show ran on time with zero RF surprises.
Tech setup
- Wireless: Shure Axient Digital (AD handhelds & bodypacks), directional antenna system + distribution
- Console: Yamaha DM7 digital console (scene recall, automix, precision EQ/dynamics)
- Network: Dante for all I/O
- Loudspeakers: Sound not just in the main room but also in the overflow foyer and the outdoor break area.
